Snow still covers the ground,
As a warm sunny morn we do have,
Three days without frost,
Three days it has been warm.
This morning as out I went to the paper pick up,
As I did near the forsythia bush,
I stopped and a big smile I did get,
For little yellow flags I did see.
Yellow buds, buds on most limbs,
Yellow buds just coming out,
I stopped to check them out,
Gingerly the small limbs I held.
A sign of spring, oh me oh my,
Forsythia telling me it is nearly time.
Though not a robin I have seen,
Only that one crazy crocus.
I did cut three small branches,
Wondering if the weather forecast was correct,
Would it this night snow,
Would these yellow buds freeze and die?
