If you are a poet, or know someone who is, then this applies to you. First and foremost- Poetry.com is a literary scam. It is a small business that operates out of Maryland and pulls in over $12 million/year. That said.....
Everyone who submits a poem to their site or contest is automatically a 'semi-finalist'. It's all part of a pyramid scheme to get unsuspecting amateur poets to buy an anthology with their poems in it. The cost? $49.99, with multiple poems on each of the xeroxed pages.
