A cameo carved in detail,
Set off by a black onyx stone,
She received in the morning mail,
As her boyfriend’s way to atone.

They’d had a heated argument,
Over his lack of attention.
Hours in conversation spent
On him! She got no mention.

He was an egomaniac.
She had come to this conclusion,
And if he thought she’d take him back,
Then he suffered from delusion.

She tore the paper from the gift,
And then threw it onto the bed.
It wouldn’t serve to mend the rift -
This perfect carving of HIS head.
