Brightening our day
Emitting its aroma
Beauteous display


Summer heat arrives
Horrendous desert heat
Air conditioners running
Relentless sun to beat


Petals of the flowers
Starting in to wilt
Construction all around
Houses being built


Desert creatures search
For food and water too
Children swim in lake
Now there is no school


Visitors come from
All over this good land
Playing in the waters
Digging in the sand


Not everyone likes it
To live in conditions dry
But some of us enjoy
The open clear blue sky
