Tadpole, tadpole, swimming round,
Hiding under a lily pad.
Jillions of you did hatch,
But how many will become a frog?
Darting here, darting there,
But always staying neath that big lily pad.
Got to watch for birds from above,
And my oh how the fish do tadpoles love to eat.
Little tadpole swimming about,
Trying to stay away from trouble.
Want to live, want to swim,
Want to a big frog become.
Calm as you watch and swim,
Always looking out from all around,
But little tadpole, you know what?
A trout may eat you up.
