I seem to hear faintly, around the bend
a sound of September's song
she whispers summer must come to an end
and the songbirds must move along

Time for a change in weather
and colors of flowers and trees
equally, in her way, as lovely as spring
with mums and bright golden leaves

So welcome September, you're on duty
along with the long months ahead
each brings her own special beauty
but hurry back SPRING, you've just fled
