powder puff fragrance,
soft, delicate petals of pink,
rough textured leaves -
green
a crescent moon,
a slanted roof,
a row of hollyhocks hides the scene
a two-holer outhouse next to the pig pen,
out the dirt path,
past the smoke house,
fifty yards this side of the barn.
Sears-Roebuck catalogues,
flower-seed order books,
quiet,
serene
several trips per day -
sometimes hurried,
usually not.
quiet time in the outhouse,
where a farm woman dreams
