I walk again
a barefoot child
through fields
green as emerald.
Hand in hand
with the wraiths
of yesterday.
Beloved specters
we walk wearing
the
livery of love.
The delphinium blue
in
my grandmother’s eyes,
I see that apparition
behind
floating airy clouds.
Dulcet memories
hauntingly caress me.
Like a calloused hand
which strokes my cheek
and
my red-headed grandfather’s smile.
Disembodied voices weave
a mélange
of
recollection.
On musical zephyrs,
their
laughter reaches me,
denizens inherent
of
days gone by.
Nostalgia's mists
persistent,
yesterday’s ghosts
like ivy twining
hold me enfolded
with love.
