Rumbling, rolling, roaring
You traverse the sky as if
You owned it.
I cover my ears; you frighten me.
I am five years old and the only
One awake to hear you.
Now I listen to you
Approach from across the valley;
your brother, Lightning, crackles overhead.
I wait for you to answer him.
You bring back lonely memories,
But I’m not afraid of you anymore.
