I glimpse her through the window
Across the courtyard from my place
She strolls around with head held high
A smile upon her face

I envy her the serenity
That seems to glow within
Her graceful hands precede her
Touching objects at her whim

This woman has all that I have not
Beauty, grace, contentment
Don't I deserve to have the same
I thought, with such resentment?

She exits through the lobby doors
And walks with trepidation
A white cane taps beside her
I feel a strange sensation

Dear God in Heaven I thank you
For all the blessings you bestow
On fools made in your image
On this planet here below
