A candle was lit every night
And set in the window to light
She waited for him to return
While that candle at night would burn
Off to work in the morning light
But the candle burned every night
Gone was he for many a year
She missed her cat that was so dear
Then one night she heard it meow
He had returned to her somehow
She rushed to open up the front door
There sat a kitten and some more
It wasn't her old roving cat
But kittens galore with a Mom cat
They wandered into her front room
Dispelling her so lonely gloom
