When my son was just a little tot
And didn't know the score
He had a way to express the time
Called it "the day be after fore
We never knew just what he meant
Was it yesterday, today or tomorrow
Didn't seem to matter much
It was time that he could borrow
When you don't remember when it happened
His phrase covered everything
Just say it was "the day be after fore"
You'll see it has a happy ring
It puts time in perspective
When you really think it through
It matters very little
When it has passed for a week or two
Now that I'm a senior
And have senior moments, I just say
It happened "the day be after fore"
That seems to cover it okay
