in each soul, deep inside
a child still longs to be dignified
with views unable to be put to words
with fearful cries that were never heard
ever searching for the golden mean
to avoid the in-between extremes
there were hardships to circumvent
too soon adolescence came and went
swept into an adult world ill-equipped
always following someone else’s script
the child still cries “don't go so fast
i’m running so hard my strength can't last”
when a soul cries out it is always heard
the heavens open, then comes a word
you are a child no longer, you have a choice
take courage, leap in faith, you have a voice
turn your fate and your course around
make a commitment to change and confound
my child, you are your own parent now
tend to the needs that others knew not how
