CLEAR BLUE SKIES OF FALL
PRECEDING WINTERS GRAYNESS
LONG COLD DAYS SO DREAR

BEAUTIFUL PINE TREES
STANDING TALL IN FOREST BROWN
GREEN, UNTOUCHED BY COLD

FRUIT TREES LADEN DOWN
APPLES AND PEARS NOW READY
FOR EATING PLEASURE

COOLING WEATHER HERE
BIRD HOUSES NOW EMPTIED OUT
CHIRPING WILL BE MISSED

SUMMER'S LAST ROSE CUT
FROM THE BUSH IN MY GARDEN
NOW LIVES IN MY HOUSE

BEAUTIFUL AUTUMN
LEAVES OF YELLOW, GOLD AND RED
SPARKLING IN LATE SUN

RUSTLING OF CORNSTALKS
SCARECROW DROOPING SADLY NOW
NOTHING LEFT TO GUARD

WIND STARTING TO BLOW
THE BEAUTIFUL AUTUMN LEAVES
NOW COVERING LAWN

SHIVERING WITH COLD
CLINGING TO A LEAF FOR WARMTH
BRANCHES ALMOST BARE

BARE BRANCHES REACH
STARK SPLENDOR AGAINST THE SKY
SUPPLICATING ARMS
