When winter’s chill is in the air
And beauty is gone from my garden
When the sky is gray and cloudy
And the earth below is sodden
When only darkness surrounds me
And hope seems totally gone
There’s one bright spot in my garden
That I feast my eyes upon.


With lovely purple blooms
The camellia bush is glowing
While everything around is dull
Camellias make a brilliant showing
The delicate flowers pierce the gloom
And remind me that not all is dead
New life springs through frosty air
As the camellia raises its head.


When days seems dark and dreary
And you feel that all is lost
Observe the hardy camellia bush
Whose flowers bloom through the frost.
