We've known him well for many years
This boy from our hometown
He started out as an Eagle Scout
Then went on to World renown
He was thrust into his important role
By destiny's design
But he took the job and did it well
A hard mountain he had to climb
His role as President lasted a short time
He was replaced by Jimmy Carter
He went on to live out his life
With Betty his lifetime partner
Upon his death on Christmas Day
And the many tributes given to him
We learned of how his honesty in office
Healed the wedge that had been driven
President Gerald R. Ford, we honor you
For the way you lived your life
And send our deepest condolences
to your family and your wife
