In the evening when things are still,
In the evening when I slow down,
In the evening as I began to relax
In the evening I ponder and think.

It seems the world slows down
After supper, coffee and Jeopardy,
I look around and wonder much,
Thinking of what could have been.

I used to enjoy good chats,
Even write some poetic words.
Let everything relax,
Have an apple and off to bed.

But as the evening draws to an end,
I get a smile and think of the morn.
Wonder if the sunrise will be great,
Will it a good poem cause me to write.

But as I lie down,
As I hope to drift off to Napper’s town,
I think of how grateful I am,
For I am still around.
