THE WINDS OF WINTER BLOW THROUGH TOWN
BLOWING LEAVES AND RAIN COMES DOWN
IN OTHER CITIES SNOWFLAKES FALL
WALKERS TAKE THEIR WALKS IN MALL

BIRDS STRUGGLE ON WING IN THE SKY
TREE TOPS TREMBLE WAY UP HIGH
COLD AIR CHILLS US AS WE GO OUT
WINTER NOW GIVES OUT A SHOUT

CHILDREN BUNDLED UP VERY SNUG
BACKPACKS FULL OF BOOKS THEY LUG
KNITTED GLOVES AND KNITTED HAT
OUT A WINDOW PEEKS A CAT

LOGS ARE LIT IN THE FIREPLACE
BECAUSE WINDS OF WINTER RACE
SQUIRRELS CHECK OUT THEIR STORE OF ACORN
UPON WAKING WINTER MORN

Our house is going on 90 yrs old.
It is drafty beyond belief!
When the Winter wind blows cold,
Right through the walls comes a leaf!

We decided that we need new doors.
So we called for some skilled carpentry.
The guy that came glanced at the floors,
Saying; "What you need is wizardry!"

What better time to put a hole in the wall?
With the winter winds A-blowing.
The door frames are wide and very tall.
Want to guess when it will start snowing?

The winds of winter do blow,
And we shall have snow.

Little ones in their bunny snow suits bundled against the cold,
Rest in their Mother's arms as their first winter months begin to unfold.

The city folks are out in their scarves and caps with snow blowers to take the snow off their roofs.
Soon the reindeer will need to land with loud and furry hoofs.

Down at the hardware store the north wind is increasing their sales.
The advent of wind and snow never fails.

Rugs are against the bottom of house doors to keep out the chill.
The water on the wheel is frozen down at the mill.

Ice skating on the local pond is bitter cold as the winds of winter blow scarves around our necks,
And Jack Frost is making noses red and foggy specs.

The winds of winter are blowing up a Nor'easter which is 100% sure,
And the weather forecast is unsure.

Batten down the hatches, secure all loose ends.
The winds of winter transcend.

The winds of winter are a blowing,
And it is a snowing,
So spread the cheer,
Snow I do have to shovel.

Wet heavy white snow,
It is so pretty, ho, ho, ho,
But it I have to shovel,
So there won’t be so much, after dinner.

The winds of winter blow brown leaves off the trees
And into the garage to be dragged into the house
The robins continue to splash in the birdbath
Oblivious to the cold breeze that stirs the water.

The winds of winter cause my lips to chap
And my hair to blow into an unruly mess
I wear a jacket and scarf 'round my neck
But by afternoon the temperature has risen.

Flowers are blooming in the mall parking lot
Nodding their heads in the gusty breeze
Clouds overhead swirl across the skies
But nary a drop of rain will fall this day.

Wrapped in a cozy soft robe this night
I'll put up my feet and nod in my chair
Watching the Tree lights sparkle and shine
Thinking this is a lovely time of year.

A cuddlesome babe when
The norther came
Wind-brushed cheeks,
She cried.

Mama pulled over a blanket on her face,
Ducked her own snooded head
Walked toward home
And warmth.

Off to school another day,
Another norther slashed her tender legs,
Shirley Temple curls blew wildly,
She learned her abc's.

Another norther another time,
She held hands with her football player,
Northers' winds unfelt,
She was in love.

A mother now, she cups another,
A cuddlesome babe in pink,
Pulling a blanket over her tears,
She drives a car to chocolate.

Northers came and northers went,
And bitter winter winds,
She's a babe again,
Winter winds can't bother.

And she sleeps to their singing
Dreams of blossoms and springs,
Sweet water-flowing springs,
Winter winds make music.
