Colorful table set in Fiestaware.
There were little salt bowls, no one had to share.
Big turkey and plenty of oyster and sage dressing,
Along with cranberry relish completed by the blessing.
There were always candied sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, rolls and Waldorf salad.
Pumpkin pie with whipped cream, mincemeat pie and coffee for dessert made the whole meal valid.
There were always plenty of mixed nuts in the shell for cracking along with apples and oranges to eat.
I loved to crack the walnuts in their shells, to me it was a treat.
After dinner, the men played cards, drank beer and smoked pipes, cigars or cigarettes, while the women cleaned up the mess.
There was no TV football, for that we should have been thankful, I guess.
