You keep me safe while I would trip,
Falter, fear, footing slip,
You go ahead in front of me,
Hold nettles back, kick stones away,
Light and smooth the path ahead.
You encourage in your gentle bass,
“Come now, my daughter, dear,”
Not much further you must go
The storm gone, you’ll be clear.
You will learn for I will tell
The secrets you try to find,
And wipe your face of burning tears,
You’ll not be left behind.”
Oh, Love we color you scarlet.
We shape your heart on cards,
Struggle so for words to tell
What we feel, but words
Are words that fail.
Perfumes and Promises

COUPLES MEET SAY HELLO
HE ASKS YOU TO DANCE OH SO SLOW
YOUR SCENT LINGERS THORUGHOUT HIS NIGHT
HE PROMISES TO MAKE EVERYTHING ALL RIGHT.
ERASE YOUR PROBLEMS TAKE AWAY YOUR FEAR
HE CALLS YOU PET NAMES LIKE HONEY AND MY DEAR
HE SEEMS TO BE THE ONE FOR YOU
PROMISES YOU LOVE, PROMISES TO BE TRUE
THEN ONE DAY WITHOUT A CLUE
HE BREAKS HIS PROMISE AND MAKES YOU BLUE
AS YOU LET THE TEARS ALL FLOW
AS YOU PRAY TO THE LORD, WHERE SHALL I GO?
YOU REMEMBER THE PREFUME AND DAB SOME ON.
YOU GO TO THE PLACE WHERE IT WAS ALL BORN,
STANDING THERE IS THE MAN OF YOUR DREAMS
HE RUNS RIGHT TO YOU, AN ENDEARING SCENE,
THIS STORY TURNED OUT HE WAS A MAN OF MEANS
BEST OF ALL HE MADE YOU HIS QUEEN
True Love
By Sharon (ByGolly25@aol.com)
Your snore is music to my ear
My mood changes you do not fear
With love I wash your dirty socks
You reset all the house clocks
You are my Valentine
You held my hand when I was ill
I admired the shelves you made without skill
You kiss me tenderly when I am a mess
I listen when your temper comes from stress
You are my Valentine
You never call when you are going to be late
This for years I tolerate
You comfort me when I start to cry
I don't get angry when something expensive you buy
You are my Valentine
I don't mind that you clutter every space
You let me know you love my wrinkled face
My hair is gray and yours is thin
Beneath our obesity our bodies are within
You are my Valentine
I've become stagnate with arthritis pain
You don't hear well so I repeat again and again
A story I've told is your idea in a few day's time
When there's a mess you clean up the grime
You are my Valentine
An Ode to the Internet
By Diana Mercedes (writerworks@live.com)
I love you
And all of your knowledge
Useful and silly
And just willy nilly
I love in spite of
My browser spitting
And sputtering
Time and again
I hear myself uttering
Words unbecoming.
I love how you’re there
Whenever I need you
And when I pass
I just might deed you
My worldly goods
So enamored am I
You allow me to fly
From thought
To curious thought
From finches to winches
And wombats to pinches
Of herbs in the recipes
Gleaned from your pages
Enslaving all ages
You take equal measure
Of all that you give
Consuming my hours with
Pogo and Google
A bit of an addict
Am I
You seduce with the best
And show no remorse
For luring me in
Hour upon hour
You know it’s a sin
But how can you
Help it
They made you this way
You will not relent
No time to repent
Too busy are thee
Answering queries
Conspiracies theories abound
And round the world
Crises and hot spots
Clamor for space
Its daunting for you
Just to keep pace
With mountains
Of information
That rise and fall
In the arc of a day.
In spite of lines Brownings
Have written,
Anyone smitten
Is taking a chance
It’s now up to me
To reign myself in
And ration my passion
For thee.
