I long to come back
to your warm green quietness
just to sit and think

alongside the pond
where I can watch the koi swim
watching for some food

to see three monkeys
sitting on the steps with their
eyes, ears, mouth covered

where I can walk on
stepping stones across water
littered with blossoms

bamboo forests grow
and make backdrops for the white
blooming cherry trees

the clear water sings
its babbling song as it falls
under the Moon Bridge

Japanese gardens
close out the worlds noise and strife
brings calm to my soul

this is where I go
for peace, even in my mind,
my sanctuary
