Chili For Winter
Scroll down for the recipe

Several years ago I watched a tv program and heard a woman say she had replicated the recipe for Wendy's Chili. In fact, she had replicated the recipe for several popular foods: the secret sauce for Big Mac's, the White Castle Hamburger, Reeses Peanut Butter cups, Colonel Sander's Fried Chicken, Arthur Treacher's fish. I quickly found a pen and paper and copied them. You may have them, but if you don't, I'll share. The recipe below is a replication for Wendy's Chili.

Wendy's Chili

2 Tbsp oil 1-1/2 - 2 lbs ground round 10 oz. can Campbell's French Onion Soup (Put through a blender)

While meat is browning, add soup and cook 5 minutes.

1 Tbs chili powder
2 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp pepper
2 drops Tabasco
21 oz can of dark red kidney beans
6 oz can tomato paste
8 oz tomato sauce

Marilyn's Chili

2 Tbsp Olive Oil
1 lb lean ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
1 medium green bell pepper, chopped

Saute' onion and green pepper. Brown the ground beef.

While meat is browing, add:

1 Tbsp chili powder (2 Tbsp if you like it spicy)
21 oz. can dark red kidney beans
21 oz. can crushed tomatoes (not puree or sauce)
1/2 - 1 cup water, depending on how soupy you like it.
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp red pepper flakes

Heat the mixture until it reaches the boiling point,
then simmer it for 45-50 minutes.

Serve with grated cheddar cheese.

Chili sounds good
On a winter chilly day
Warming up insides
In a food warming way
