Whenever I think of Johnny,
The first thing I do is sigh,
For I think of Johnny Ray,
Singing his plaintive song "Cry"

Deaf as a doornail was he,
But his expressions told the tale
Of broken hearts and sorrow,
I can hear his sobbing wail.

"All of Me" he sang, "take all"
Oh, if somehow I could,
Re-live the 50s over again,
Johnny, I'd take you, I would.

Johnny Ray is gone forever,
But his music rings in my mind,
Johnny sang of love and loss,
Johnny was one of a kind.
