Autumn is for mums and these are beauties. The odd-looking plant you see is a pitcher plant.

I found the steam-run cider press in Vermont, and I must admit that I drank quite a few cups of free cider while I was there.

You'll see a maple sugar house where sap from maple trees is boiled and made into maple syrup. Cords of wood are stacked and ready for the boil-down.

Many of the pictures you see were taken in Vermont. Ben and I drove to the northern part and spent some time in Stowe, a popular place for skiiers. The rocks on the mountainside looked intimidating and the road was steep and narrow.

We also drove through the northern part of New York state and that's where I found the beautiful farms and pasture fields.
