If a turtle lands on its shell
With legs pointed up at the sky,
The poor thing won't fare very well,
Unless you or I happen by.
Suddenly, such power we wield,
With the choice left for us to pick.
True character then is revealed -
Ignore it, or give a slight kick.
To leave it to its awful plight,
Gradually, to starve or thirst,
Or to kindly set it upright -
What decision would you make first?
This is a very simple test
To find out of what you are made.
It's a minor matter, at best,
And there is no passing grade.
A real test of compassion though,
And I urge you to think this through.
If it reclined in traffic's flow,
Just what then would you opt to do?
